
Emin and Kahlo: The Pleasure and the Pain
In a year that features both Tracey Emin (b. 1963) and Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) in exhibitions at Tate Modern, it seems fitting to reflect on the way these two artists used their life experiences to express pleasure and pain in their works of art. In 2000 Mary McCartney photographed Tracey Emin as Frida Kahlo lying on a bed; this bold image serves to highlight the interconnection of these two women artists who dared to be different.Talk by Tammy Ellis.
