Sidney H. Sime: Theatre in Caricature
Sidney Sime’s caricatures show his sharp eye, imagination, and fascination with theatre. Working with critic Arnold Goldsworthy, he drew leading late Victorian and Edwardian actors and performers for reviews of West End performances.Sime's expressive line captured the likeness, character, and performances of his theatrical subjects with wit. Published in magazines such as Pick-Me-Up, Pall Mall, and The Tatler, these artworks record Sime’s distinctive response to the spectacle of his age.
